The 2030 Voting District Project has not yet begun. The Census Bureau plans to announce Phase 2 through a Federal Register notice in late 2027, with participant guidelines and training issued for the initial update cycle beginning in early 2028. Most resources listed here are from the 2020 and earlier cycles and are provided as reference for what the 2030 program is expected to involve. This page will be updated as 2030 materials are released.

The VTDP gives official state liaisons the opportunity to submit and verify their voting districts (a broad term covering precincts, election districts, wards, and other areas that administer elections) for inclusion in the 2030 Census Redistricting Data products under P.L. 94-171, which include both tabulated data and geographic products. Starting in early 2028, the Bureau plans to begin the initial voting district update cycle, providing participating states with guidelines and training for submitting their voting district boundaries. After processing the submitted updates, the Bureau will offer states two verification cycles to confirm their updates were processed correctly: the first is planned for early 2029, and the second for early 2030, though the second cycle will only be available to states that participated in either the initial update cycle or the first verification cycle.
