West Virginia’s post-2020 congressional redistricting followed the state’s loss of a U.S. House seat in the 2020 apportionment, reducing its delegation from three to two districts. After the House and Senate redistricting committees released multiple draft maps on September 30, 2021, the Senate approved a map on October 13, and the House concurred on October 14. Governor Jim Justice signed the congressional map into law on October 22, 2021, for use beginning with the 2022 elections. There have been no post-2020 court rulings altering the enacted congressional plan.
State legislative districts were also enacted in the October 2021 special session, and the House of Delegates moved to 100 single-member districts for the first time. The House plan passed the House on October 13 and the Senate on October 18. The Senate plan was approved on October 19 following committee work earlier that month. Governor Justice signed the legislative maps into law on October 22, 2021. There have been no post-2020 court rulings altering the enacted Senate and House maps.
