Nevada 2021 Districts
Nevada’s post-2020 congressional map was enacted during a November 2021 special session when the legislature passed Senate Bill 1 and the governor signed it on November 16, 2021. A subsequent state-court lawsuit, Koenig v. Nevada, initially challenged both the congressional and legislative plans as partisan gerrymanders under the Nevada Constitution (speech/assembly) and sought to block their use, but the plaintiffs amended their complaint on January 19, 2022 to drop the congressional challenge. The court later denied a preliminary-injunction request in March 2022 and the parties stipulated to dismissal with prejudice on June 16, 2022, leaving the congressional plan in place.
State legislative districts (21 Senate, 42 Assembly) were redrawn in the same bill and took effect for the 2022 elections.) The Koenig v. Nevada suit alleged the legislative plans were partisan gerrymanders and malapportioned in violation of federal and state constitutional provisions, and the amended complaint added a claim that the maps gave insufficient attention to county boundaries. The trial court denied a preliminary injunction on March 24, 2022 and dismissed the case with prejudice on June 16, 2022, so the enacted legislative plans remained operative.
