Note: Nebraska has a unicameral legislature
Nebraska’s congressional map was enacted during a two‑week special session of its unicameral legislature in September 2021. Lawmakers approved LB 1 by a 35-11 vote on September 30, 2021, setting new boundaries for the state’s three U.S. House districts. Governor Pete Ricketts signed the bill the same day, and the map has been in effect since the 2022 elections. The enacted plan kept Douglas County entirely within the 2nd District, alongside parts of Sarpy County, a key point in the negotiations.
State legislative districts were adopted on the same day via LB 3, which set the 49 single‑member districts for the Nebraska Legislature. The governor signed that measure on September 30 as well. The redistricting work was carried out in a special session that ran September 13–30, 2021, following procedures outlined by the legislature’s Redistricting Committee and associated resolutions. No court orders have altered the 2021 congressional or legislative plans.
