U.S. Census Voting District Project (VTDP)

The Voting District Program (VTDP) is Phase 2 of the Census Bureau's 2030 Redistricting Data Program, conducted under the authority of Public Law 94-171. The program provides officially designated state liaisons the opportunity to submit and verify their voting districts, a generic term covering the wide variety of local electoral areas that administer elections, including precincts, election districts, and wards, to the Census Bureau for inclusion in the 2030 Census Redistricting Data products. Beginning in early 2028, the Census Bureau will initiate the initial voting district update cycle, providing participating states with guidelines and training for submitting their voting district boundaries, and will give states two separate opportunities to verify that their submitted updates were processed correctly before the redistricting data files are delivered to states by the statutory deadline of April 1, 2031
